Permits in Belmont

What the city
asks for.

These points come from the City of Belmont Building Department's page and its answer to "What is required for a demolition permit?"

From the City of Belmont

  • For a demolition permit, the city asks for three sets of plans drawn to scale on paper at least 11" x 17", a plot plan at 1/8" = 1', and a list of the construction and demolition recycling services used by every contractor on the job.
  • Debris has to be separated for recycling (wood, concrete, metals, bricks, pavers, asphalt and landscape materials), with the collection spots shown on the plot plan.
  • Recycling receipts have to be kept in a log, and a copy of the log and receipts goes to the Building Division before you call for the final inspection.
  • A Job Number from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is needed before the permit is issued, to address lead and asbestos.
  • Permit Center: 650-595-7422, permitcenter@belmont.gov.

How we help

  • At the walk-through we tell you what paperwork your job is likely to need.
  • We haul the debris on our own trucks, so one crew knows where every load went.
  • On permitted work, the start date follows the permit.
