- Since July 1, 2020, a structure that is being completely removed must be deconstructed. Demolition is no longer allowed for those projects.
- The deconstruction requirements are limited to projects where a structure is completely removed.
- Before the building permit application, a salvage survey is required from a city-approved reuse organization.
- Materials must be separated for reuse and recycling and delivered to city-approved facilities.
- The city says deconstruction takes longer than traditional demolition and that it is important to plan ahead.
