From the City of Los Altos
- All six items on the city's list must be completed to get the demolition permit, and the demolition permit must be finaled before the building permit.
- A "J" number letter from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, applied for online.
- Demolition waste must be recycled or salvaged, through a Mission Trail Waste Systems debris box or a city-approved recycling facility with weight tickets.
- Water service to the structure is disconnected with California Water Service, and the sewer is capped at the property line before demolition (Engineering: (650) 947-2780).
- PG&E must approve and sign off gas and electric disconnections. The city advises calling PG&E right away because of lead times.
- Planning Division approval is required for all demolitions, tree protection and tree removals: (650) 947-2750.
